Through dedicated advocacy and strategic litigation, the team helped secure a result that stood out among Minnesota’s notable verdicts and settlements.

Minnesota Lawyer’s Attorneys of the Year Recognition

Each year, Minnesota Lawyer honors a select group of attorneys whose work has had a notable influence on Minnesota’s legal landscape. The Attorneys of the Year award recognizes lawyers who have demonstrated excellence through major case results, precedent-setting litigation, or exceptional advocacy.

Recipients are selected for achievements that reflect both professional skill and a commitment to justice.

The Case: Jane Doe v. Thomas Incantalupo

The recognition stems from the attorneys’ work representing a survivor in Jane Doe v. Thomas Incantalupo, a civil case involving sexual abuse by a former figure skating coach.

A Hennepin County jury awarded the plaintiff $12.5 million in damages after finding Incantalupo liable for abuse that occurred when the victim was a minor. The verdict included compensation for past and future emotional harm as well as punitive damages intended to hold the defendant accountable.

According to reports and trial testimony, the victim began working with Incantalupo as a figure skating coach when she was young. The abuse began when she was 14 years old and continued over a period of two years, often during trips for training and competitions.
